Bloggerheads outage

The Bloggerheads server crashed late on Sunday night and could not be brought back online because of the constant barrage of trackback spam that brought it down in the first place. Insta-crash, reset, insta-crash, reset… you get the idea.

Trackback will be disabled until further notice. Cheers all. (And now, back to Tony Blair and rivers of blood.)

UPDATE – Similar abuse of the search function has resulted in its suspension also. Time to move to WordPress.

Ah, that explains it!tygerland has been inundated with Spam since Friday.
Wouldn't happen to be from ip address 66.232.124.237 by any chance?
Tim,When I had similar problems over on davblog, I found that installing the Apache module mod_security (see http://www.modsecurity.org/) worked wonders. It stopped over 90% of the spam requests at the HTTP level - so they never get as far as being processed by MT.Might work for you too.
Thank, Dave. I've passed that over to Balders.
