The Political Weblog Project THE POLITICAL WEBLOG PROJECT

You won't care. The Political Weblog Project is a collaborative effort designed to encourage MPs, Councillors and other elected officials to communicate more effectively online via the intelligent use of weblogs. Elected officials who wish to take part in this scheme must follow these simple rules that exist primarily for your own benefit:

Rule #1 - You must own (or be ready to purchase) your own domain name.
Rule #2 - You must use the technology to engage in two-way commmunication
Rule #3 - You must fund/source the weblog with your own money or resources.

Those who pledge to follow these rules will be provided with all the necessary assets and expertise at an extremely competitive rate.

What is a weblog?  |  Why two-way communication?  |  Why do I need my own domain?

More politicians need to be using weblogs properly. Maybe you can help.

This was one the first proxy-blogs created as part of the proxy blog project, and it is - so far - the only proxy blogging effort that has resulted in the target MP launching a blog of their own.

Upon launching her blog, Sandra Gidley had this to say:

It is with a certain amount of trepidation that I embark on this web log and I hope I haven't disappointed anyone who thinks they might be on a fast track to Charlie Dimmock. I will freely admit that the good people at Gidleywatch have a lot to do with the decision - which hasn't been an easy one. My office staff didn't want me to do it because they like Gidleywatch and can't wait for updates. My Constituency Organiser didn't want me to do it because he couldn't see the point. But it has been a strange experience being cyberstalked even though Gidleywatch is friendly so I have decided that my own voice will be added to the many who already whisper on the world wide web.

The Gidley Watch blog continues to provide independent commentary on relevant movements, articles, appearances and speeches, plus an RSS feed from theyworkforyou.com
