According to this article, Leah McLaren thinks that the typical English male “is either a repressed homosexual, a drunkard whose alcohol intake renders him incapable, a boarding school product deprived of his mother’s love too early in life, or simply a woman-hater.”
But a quick scan of that article, the original article and/or her Wikipedia page reveals that she formed this opinion while hanging around right-wing tabloid and City types.
Not that I’m mentioning any names…

I'm a Scot, so it seems quite fair in my view!

Maybe she's just a bit of a bitch? You get out what you put in.Still, 7 or 8 pints and I probably would.

Professor Paul: So what you're saying is that Scottish men are (somehow) quite familiar with the romantic inadequacies of English men?bigdaddymerk: How would you drinking 7 or 8 pints make her less of a bitch?

Sim-O: Shame on you. There are plenty of reasons why Leah may hold her present/perceived view of English men (her possibly being "just a bit of a bitch" included). Your assuming lesbianism on her part (at the very least) excuses us from assuming arrogance on your part.:oPPP: I said I wasn't mentioning any names. That includes people who claim to be gay/Irish/etc.

We're 'either' "a repressed homosexual, a drunkard whose alcohol intake renders him incapable, a boarding school product deprived of his mother's love too early in life, or simply a woman-hater." How about all of the above?

I would imagine if that were the case you would need to pretend to be Irish just to get by in life.
